Going Hunting!

Doug DeVita’s long-awaited production ‘Goddess of the Hunt’, takes on the Fresh Fruit Festival MAINSTAGE this weekend! This LGBTQ new works festival is running now through May 5th, and you can see the NEW ‘Goddess of the Hunt’ on April 30th at 6:30p, May 4th at 6:30p, or May 5th at 4:15p! Tickets are available here!

The Fresh Fruit Festival is dedicated to providing fresh and innovative works of art, as well as creating a space for LGBTQ talent of all types to thrive. The 2024 Main Stage is set to present over twenty new works, all including themes of the LGBTQ experience. More information on this amazing festival can be found on their website

The show is Doug DeVita’s modern reimagination of the myth of Diana the Huntress; well-off Charlie Windsor meets Miss Congeniality, Diana Black-White. The two are fast friends until Charlie’s friend Ed suggests there may be more sinister motives behind Diana’s agreeability.

Through this gripping thriller, the audience is presented with intricate plot points including hidden truths, uncertain allegiances, dysfunctional family relationships, and on top of it all, a social media frenzy. This theme is rooted in the writer’s analysis of social media and its impact on our behavior. This carefully crafted masterpiece is a roller coaster of emotions, sure to garner both screams and laughter.

Appearing as Charlie is Kevin Ligon, a Broadway veteran with a list of credits. His undeniable star power has been seen in Hello, Dolly! starring Bette Midler, The Producers, and more. In addition to Mr. Ligon, the cast is also adorned with talents such as Mary Powelson as Diana, Benjamin I. Cardona, Robert-Louis Maisonett, and David L. Carson

David Carson tells us he’s been working alongside Doug DeVita on this project since its conception at his dining room table. They’ve gone through rounds of reviews, editing, and rewriting together. He comments on how the “words come to life” when actors work together, giving the script a mind of its own.

He also knows that Goddess of the Hunt will fit in perfectly with the typical provocative programming of the Fresh Fruit Festival and that Doug’s ear for comedy will be a great addition.

Another recognizable name on this project is Director Rosie Corr, fresh from her position as assistant director for the recent Broadway musical, Harmony. This passionate and skilled director will certainly bring the Fresh Fruit Festival another knockout presentation.

Don’t miss your chance to see GODDESS OF THE HUNT, a thrilling comedy – or perhaps a hilarious thriller – presented by one of the festival’s most celebrated writers, Doug DeVita! THIS WEEKEND, May 4th and 5th, at the Fresh Fruit Festival’s Home Theater, The Wild Project 195 E 3rd St, New York City!
